The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans today elected Robert R.
Barkerding Chairman. Barkerding represents Jefferson Parish and joined the Board in February of 2013
when he was appointed by former Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The Port of New Orleans, the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad and the City of New Orleans have agreed to preliminary terms of a landmark plan that will stimulate economic growth of the Port and local industries by aligning the Public Belt Railroads and its assets under the Port of New Orleans.
The Port of New Orleans announced a new opportunity for shippers looking to transport perishable cargo from South America. Port NOLA received approval by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for inclusion in the Southeast U.S. In-Transit Cold Treatment Pilot Program.
American Duchess, American Queen Steamboat Company’s Latest Riverboat to Launch Aug. 14 from New Orleans

The American Queen Steamboat Company, owner and operator of the American Queen and American Empress, will launch service on its new American Duchess when it sets sail from New Orleans on Aug. 14, 2017, following its christening here a day earlier.
Cruise guests, locals and tourists enjoying New Orleans riverfront now have an added layer of security. Today, the Port’s Harbor Police Department initiated bicycle patrols aimed at increasing security from Mardi Gras World to the French Market.

The Port of New Orleans is celebrating Maritime Month through May and National Maritime Day May 22 to recognize the value of maritime commerce in the region and to pay tribute to the region’s rich maritime history.

Royal Caribbean International announced its return to New Orleans with a seasonal home-based cruise ship in late 2018. The 915-foot Vision of the Seas will sail seven-night itineraries to culture-rich destinations across the Bahamas and Yucatan Peninsula from the Port of New Orleans’ Julia Street Cruise Terminal. The ship will sail on Saturdays.
Marseilles, France-based CMA CGM will initiate a new weekly direct container service to South America from the Port of New Orleans on April 21. CMA CGM’s Brazil Express will operate from the Port’s Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal, enhancing the Port’s direct access to ports of call between Mexico and Brazil and adding capacity to the trade lane for shippers.
The Port of New Orleans hosts the ninth annual Cargo Connections Conference April 4-6 at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott at the Convention Center.
The longest and one of the most premium cruise ships ever to dock in New Orleans will sail into the Port’s Julia Street Cruise Terminal Sunday, Feb. 26, just in time for the finale of Mardi Gras festivities.
St. Louis Regional Freightway and Port of New Orleans Sign Memorandum of Understanding Aimed at Fostering Economic Growth

The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans and the St. Louis Regional Freightway today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to exchange market and operational information with the goal of growing trade and building upon existing and new business relationships between the two regions and critical ports. The agreement also calls for joint marketing efforts to meet those objectives.
